Really enjoyed this place. Not terribly expensive. Nice portions. Cool vibe. Attentive service. Not too many good sushi spots in the area. This one delivers. If you're lucky you will see the lead singer from Goo Goo Dolls.

This was my second time here for lunch without a reservation and seated without a problem. The restaurant is very chic inside. The food was so delicious, we came for the Lobster Pizza but stayed for everything else. This is my favorite sushi spot in all of New Jersey! I wish I had a picture of the Miso Cajun Cod because that was by far my favorite dish! If you have ever been to Nobu and tried their Miso Cod this was so similar. Very flavorful and delicious! Will 100% be back and order that miso cod again!

Great food although I'm not into sushi at all. Their menu has other items to try though so that's a good thing. The place is very popular as it is in a new spot in town. We are outside as the weather was beautiful but I'm not sure if the service was as good as if we were inside. Refills on drinks took time as our server seemed to disappear at times. Other than that we had a good time.

Amazing Gem in Westfield with NYC vibes. I stumbled on the restaurant that appeared trendy from the outside looking in. There was outdoor dining, a bar with music playing and the inside of the restaurant was beautiful. I was seated promptly after checking in without reservations and tried a variety of sushi rolls. The OMG roll was pretty amazing. I look forward to returning to try the cocktail and other dishes on the menu.

Tried this place for the first time. We sat outside because it was such a beautiful day. Seats outside were comfortable with umbrellas. We were served right away. All of the food was delicious! My boyfriend did not want sushi and hoped there were other items on the menu to select from. He chose the chicken n shrimp teriyaki n loved it - wished it was a bit larger portion but definitely worth it! I chose two rolls only cooked. Angry Dragon with salmon and shrimp and the Latin roll with steak and plantain. Both were yummy and I would definitely visit here again!

My cousin had this place on her bucket list and wanted to come here for lunch today. We walked in and were able to be seated right away. We chose to sit outside but indoor was beautiful! We ordered the lychee mojitos (virgin ) and they were delicious. Very refreshing. The food was also delicious. As a new sushi eater I opted for the NY roll and it was yummy. We got the Akai rice to share ( not our favorite but the shrimp was good). All in service was great and the food was tasty. We would visit again.

Akai changed locations (both in Westfield!) and I recently visited the new location on a Saturday night. We called in the morning and able to get a table for 4 around 7pm. The ambiance of the new place was modern and hip, a better design than their old location. Service and drinks came out a little slow. They have yummy craft cocktails! Since I don't eat seafood, I got the miso teriyaki steak. It was cooked just how I ordered it and super tender! I enjoyed the spice of the wasabi mashed potatoes. People at my table said the sushi was some of the best! Prices were a little high but it matched the food quality.

Perfect spot for a quick lunch, dinner with friends, or date night! Akai Lounge has a beautiful aesthetic, strong drinks, and delicious food. Lobster pizza: 10/10! I was so excited to try it I forgot to take a picture lol. But the sauce it's paired with?? Delicious! Rice fried to perfection. It gave the pizza the perfect crunch to go with the softer textures of the lobster. Teriyaki wings: 8/10 the sauce is tasty and wings are fried to perfection. Teriyaki dinner: 8/10 had the same sauce as the wings but was a different cut of chicken. Still tasted pretty good. California roll: 7/10 standard Cali roll. Nothing special lol. Maryland crab cake roll: 6/10. I was a little disappointed by this as the server recommended it and I LOVE crab cakes but the crab cake in the roll was a bit overcooked. It also tasted a bit bland. I will try something else next time. I had the pear martini 10/10. It was crisp, refreshing and sweet. I would definitely return to try more items.
